No matter how you regularly clean your tiles and grouts, dirt will still accumulate slowly. Grouts have these small holes unseen by the naked eyes where dirt hides.
Over the years, they accumulate layer by layer and deeper and deeper until ordinary brushing will not remove them. This will make your walls, floors, sinks or lavatories look dirty and unsanitary. The solution to this problem is deep-cleansing.
Since this is no ordinary grout cleaning, you will need to secure the following materials and follow these simple procedures:
1. Choose a non-abrasive yet strong grout cleaner. They are readily available in the market. Mostly, cleaners that are used to remove stubborn stains have a bleaching agent as an active ingredient.
2. Rinse your grout to remove any soap or other chemical residue.
3. Wear gloves as you apply cleaners to the grout. Spray-bottle application is advisable since sprayers can cover more tile area and also it limits your contact with the solution. Just follow the label of the brand.
4. Strong cleaners give-off strong odor also. Protect your nose and lungs by using masks or make sure you are working in a well-ventilated area. Eye-goggle is also advised.
5. The best time to clean your grout is during nighttime where everyone has retired. Because you have to give the solution time to penetrate deeply into the grout to breakdown grimes and dirt, you don’t want anybody disrupt that needed soaking process.
6. After the required period of time, which depends upon the brand you are using, proceed to scrubbing the grout. Use a stiff-bristled nylon brush to scrub away the stains off your grout. The bristles will penetrate into tiny holes that sponges or washcloths cannot reach.
7. If scrubbing requires you to kneel down, protect your knee with a pad.
8. Rinse with plain water and dry off thoroughly. You don’t want accidents due to slippery floors.
Just follow these procedures and your grout will be as good as new!
