Pajama party fun

June 4, 2011.

During the summer vacation break or on the weekend of a daughter’s birthday, one of the most exciting activities to propose to one’s daughter and her friends is a pajama party. It will be, after all, one of the most enjoyable and memorable things about being a young girl.

The great thing about it is that organizing such parties does not have to be so time-consuming and burdensome. As long as the girls have their tools, such as hypoallergenic makeup for kids, fancy jewelry, lots of pillows, and their favorite snacks, they’re bound to have a great time.

One of the things that can be done to make things even more fun for the girls is letting them have fun with their jammies. One possibility, especially if it’s going to be a small group, is providing the girls with a pajama set each, depending on their chosen theme. If it’s a bit chilly, though, it might be advisable to remind your kid’s guests to bring some long thermal underwear. Remember that wool thermals are best for extreme cold, and are perfect for keeping the chill out despite the light fabric the pajamas might be made of.

If buying a pair of jammies per person is not realistic, it may be better to ask the guests to bring an old pair of pajamas and prepare art materials so that they can design their sleepwear as they choose. Three-dimensional puff paints in easy-to-use tubes and a variety of colors are available in crafts stores. The paint can dry really quickly with the help of a hair dryer, so the girls can wear their creations right after. For older kids, iron-on appliqués and patches can bring a funkier vibe to the usual girly themes. By providing a variety of options, one can be sure that each girl will find something she likes and be able to express herself through her pajama creation. Just make sure that they remember to sleep, too!
