Quinoa has been called a super food by nutritional experts around the globe. Its protein, fiber and complex carbohydrate content are the particular nutritional value of this grain like seed that can aid health enthusiasts in their goal to develop their muscles and burn their excess body fat.
Quinoa contains rich amounts of protein which is sufficient in providing the 9 essential amino acids that the body needs. According to the World Health Organization, the protein content in quinoa is similar to that of dehydrated whole milk, but obviously without all the fat! Protein is one of the highly necessary nutrients that helps build muscles. This is the reason why body builders take whey protein and protein rich foods like eggs and meat in high amounts. Although regular intake of these protein sources develops the muscles, its fat content is higher compared to quinoa. But, by using quinoa as a substitute for protein supplements and meat, muscle building is enhanced while minimizing fat.
Fiber is another highly contained nutrient in quinoa. Almost all weight loss strategies recommend the intake of fiber in rich amounts. The reason for this is that fiber helps remove excess body fat and keeps the body full faster and longer. Its ability to flush out excess body fat promotes weight loss. On the other hand, by keeping the body full at all times, unnecessary cravings for sweets and other high fat foods are curbed.
Finally, quinoa contains complex carbohydrates. In the process of losing weight, low-carbohydrate or complex carbohydrate intake is needed. This is because carbohydrates that are not burned by the body can turn into stored fats. But, this is not the case for complex carbohydrates. Unlike simple carbohydrates, the complex type is easily used by the body as energy. Thus, fat storage is prevented and avoided.
Quinoa is a grain-like seed that provides plenty of health benefits to the body. But, more than its nutritional value, this powerful health food is becoming even more popular because of its aid in the process of weight loss and muscle building. Hence, it is a good food ingredient that can be incorporated in the daily meals. Health enthusiasts can prepare plenty of quinoa recipes to include in their diet regularly.
